Famous veteran Telugu actor Kota Srinivasa Rao passed away this Sunday morning at his residence in Film Nagar, Hyderabad. He was very ailing in his past few days and passed away at the age of 83, just two days after his 83rd birthday. With a career spanning over four decades, he established a distinctive legacy in Telugu cinema, appearing in more than 750 films.
A Journey Marked by Excellence
Born in Kankipadu, Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, Rao began his cinematic journey with the film Pranam Khareedu in 1978. By working for almost four decades and acting in over 750 films across different languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, and gaining fame through his performances, particularly in negative roles, he is remembered for his commendable role in one of Ram Charan’s hit films, Naayak, released in 2013.
Some of his notable films include ‘Aha Naa Pellanta!,’ ‘Pratigatana,’ ‘Khaidi Number 786,’ ‘Shiva,’ and ‘Yamaleela.’
He earned widespread recognition for his remarkable contributions to Indian cinema, receiving numerous honors, including the prestigious Padma Shri in 2015 and an impressive nine Nandi Awards.
Beyond the silver screen, Rao also made his mark in public service. He served as a BJP Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Vijayawada East constituency from 1999 to 2004, balancing his artistic and political careers with equal dedication.
