Mohammed Nizamuddin, a 29-year-old man from Mahabubnagar district in Telangana, who was shot dead by the Santa Clara Police in the U.S. on September 3, 2025. His father has requested the External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to help in bringing his mortal remains back to Mahabubnagar.

He’s been living in Santa Clara, California since 2016 to get his Master’s degree, was shot and killed by Santa Clara police. His father, Mohammed Hasnuddin, received the devastating news on Thursday, September 18, 2025, that his son’s body was at a local hospital.

In a September 18 letter to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Mr. Hasnuddin stated, “I do not know the actual reasons why police shot him dead.” In his plea, he asked the Minister to order the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and the Indian Consulate General in San Francisco to investigate the cause of death and arrange for the return of his son’s lifeless remains to Mahbubnagar.

When news of the tragedy broke, Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan took to X (formerly Twitter) to amplify the family’s plea. He shared a copy of the letter from Nizamuddin’s father, tagging External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and implored him to step in and offer every possible form of support to the heartbroken family.
